Show item 1: Moving the weekend market indoors — sample answer
Why: The briefing announces a temporary indoor venue for the market and explains why stallholders need to reserve space. Other concise summaries can be accurate if they preserve those conditions.
Model answer (26 words)
From next month, the weekend market will temporarily move indoors to avoid winter weather. Entry remains free, but stallholders must book ahead because space is limited.
Key points
- Main point: the market is moving from the square to a school hall for winter so bad weather causes less disruption.
- Essential qualification: indoor space is limited, so traders must reserve a stall. An existing outdoor place does not guarantee an indoor one.
- Common misread: free entry applies to visitors; the speaker does not say stalls are free.
- Scope: the indoor arrangement will be reviewed in spring. Do not describe it as a confirmed permanent move.
PTE Core: hear a 45–75-second recording once, then write 20–30 words. Allow 8 minutes including listening and writing; this practice does not enforce a writing countdown. These are original practice recordings, not official Pearson questions. Pearson’s Core task instructions.
