Waivers and the institutional test
Proof of English may be waived if you are a citizen of the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Canada and were mainly educated there, or if you completed at least three years of full-time study at an English-language accredited high school. Waiver requests go to your admissions counselor.
AUBG also runs a free institutional English proficiency test each year. Cambridge results (CAE) can be uploaded or shared by reference number.

Interview, SAT and how to check
After you upload your transcript and English score, your admissions counselor invites you to an interview, in person or online. SAT and ACT are not required, though scores may waive two introductory courses. Send TOEFL scores with code 2451, upload your IELTS TRF, and send Duolingo results as an undergraduate applicant.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your AUBG programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
