Frequently asked questions

What happens in IELTS Speaking Part 3?+

A four-to-five-minute discussion with the examiner on wider questions linked to your Part 2 cue card. The questions are more abstract: society, comparisons, causes, advantages and the future.

How is Part 3 marked?+

On the same four criteria as the rest of the test: fluency and coherence, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Part 3 is where examiners check whether you can develop and justify an opinion.

Are these real IELTS questions?+

They are original practice questions written by BandLadder in the examiner's style, on themes that come up often. Practise the method, not the exact wording.
