Frequently asked questions

What are the IELTS cue cards for September–December 2026?+

The 85 cards on this page: the Part 2 topics in the BandLadder bank for the September–December 2026 season, chosen to match what candidates report from their tests. IELTS does not publish its cue cards, so no list, including this one, is official.

Are these leaked or confirmed IELTS questions?+

No. They are reported and predicted topics, used as practice cards. Nobody can tell you which card you will get on the day, so prepare across people, places, objects, events and experiences rather than a shortlist.

What does a cue card season mean?+

IELTS Speaking topics rotate in sets that change roughly every four months. Candidates and teachers track which cards come up, and that shared list is called the season. The September to December season runs to the end of December.

Will older cue cards still come up?+

Often, yes. Cards on people, places, objects and experiences recur in new wording from season to season, which is why the full list of IELTS cue cards is still worth practising.

How should I practise with this list?+

Pick one card from each category, prepare for one minute, speak for two, then compare your answer with the model on the card's page. Do not memorise the model answers: examiners mark memorised speech down on fluency and coherence.
