| Programme | IELTS Academic | Other tests |

| Master's: Digital Driven Business | 6.5, at least 6.0 in each section | TOEFL 90 with 21 per section; Cambridge CPE or CAE grades A–C |
When you do not need a test
For the bachelor's, AUAS's diploma evaluation team first checks whether your previous education already meets the B2 requirement. A degree from the EU, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK or the US taught completely in English can be assessed as proof. IELTS, PTE and TOEFL certificates are valid for two years; Cambridge certificates do not expire.
For Digital Driven Business, you are exempt if you studied with English as the sole language of instruction in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the USA, or took the IB or European Baccalaureate entirely in English. Results must be under two years old at the start of study. Duolingo is not listed on either page.

Interviews and late results
Non-EU/EEA applicants to International Business fill in a questionnaire after applying and may be invited to an interview; the application is cancelled if the questionnaire is not returned in time.
For Digital Driven Business you may apply with only your test registration details, but the test report must reach AUAS before the programme starts in September.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your AUAS programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS, Hogeschool van Amsterdam) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
