How parental consent works
Duolingo's help centre says a parent or guardian gives permission by contacting support through the HELP button on the site or by emailing englishtest-support@duolingo.com.
| Who | What to do |
|---|---|
| Under 13, or under your country's parental-consent age | A parent or guardian must give permission |
| Parent or guardian | Contact support via HELP or englishtest-support@duolingo.com |
| The message | Include the test taker's full name and the email for their test account |
ID is still required
Every test taker needs a valid ID (rules). It must be an original, government-issued document showing full name, full date of birth, a recent photo, a valid expiry date and the issuing country (accepted ID). Check this before buying a test; see Duolingo English Test ID requirements.

The test rules do not change
Younger test takers follow the same rules: take the test alone in a room without interacting with anyone, no headphones or notes, and only one account that is not shared with anyone (rules). That means a parent cannot stay in the room while the test is running.
Each test taker must have their own account (rules), so a parent should not reuse their own Duolingo English Test account for a child. Rules and fees change. Check the test owner's own page before you book or pay. This guide is general information, not official advice from ETS or Duolingo.
