Medium of instruction and the interview
If you completed your previous studies in English, you can upload proof issued by your institution that English was the language of instruction. If your documents do not meet the requirements, SZE relies on an online language interview. PTE and Duolingo are not named.
You upload a copy of your language certificate with your application. School leaving documents and degrees need Ministry of Foreign Affairs notarisation, or an apostille in Hague Convention countries.

Fees and how to check
The application fee is EUR 100 and non-refundable. Admitted students must pay two semesters of tuition plus a one-month accommodation fee of EUR 130 before the final steps, and SZE says it cannot make exceptions. Applications also need a CV, a motivation letter and an academic reference letter.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your SZE programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Széchenyi István University (SZE) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
