Waivers
Proof may be waived if you completed on-site secondary, bachelor's or master's education taught fully in English in an EU/EEA country, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland or the UK while living there, with a transcript that confirms it. Bachelor's applicants from IB or European Baccalaureate schools may also be waived.
An English-medium degree from India, Pakistan or Nigeria is not on that list, so plan on a test.

Validity and deadlines
IELTS, TOEFL and PTE scores must still be valid when the academic year of your intake starts. Requirements must be met by the application deadline. TalTech's next admissions period opens on 1 February 2027.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your TalTech programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.

No. Duolingo is not on TalTech's list of accepted tests.

Yes. TalTech accepts IELTS Academic Online and One Skill Retake.
Does an Indian English-medium degree exempt me at TalTech?+
No. The waiver covers fully English-taught education completed on site in the EU/EEA, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland or the UK.
