Other routes and programme notes
For master's applicants, UE accepts EFSET (50 minutes) with a score of 60 combined with a medium of instruction letter or a proctored test at UE, but only if you graduated within two years of applying.
The general bachelor's requirement is B2, for example IELTS 5.5. Non-EU bachelor's applicants may also sit a short admission essay, depending on their school curriculum. BA Hotel Management needs German A2 and English B2.
The MBA uses the same English list as the master's and asks for at least one year of work experience after your first degree.

Deposit and how to check
Non-EU master's students pay a reservation fee of €3,000 after acceptance, which is deducted from the total programme cost. UE issues the admission letter needed for the visa once the contract and fee are received.
Your German student visa is handled by the German embassy or consulate where you apply, not by UE. This guide covers UE's admission rule only. Our IELTS for Germany guide covers the visa side and test fees.
English requirements in Germany are set per programme and can change between intakes. The score that binds you is the one on your UE programme page and in your admission letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where University of Europe for Applied Sciences publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
