Large organisations typically provide robust infrastructure, structured training programmes, and clear pathways for career progression. Because these firms have extensive operational systems, employees benefit from mentorship by experienced senior staff and exposure to diverse departments. For instance, a junior accountant at a global firm often receives standardised training and has the opportunity to rotate through various financial specialisations, which builds a comprehensive skill set that is highly valued in the global labour market.

Conversely, small companies often lack the resources and long-term stability found in established multinational firms. In smaller settings, employees may be required to wear many hats, which can lead to excessive workloads without adequate administrative support or clear management guidance. For example, a marketing executive in a boutique agency might struggle to develop deep expertise because they are constantly juggling unrelated tasks like client acquisition, bookkeeping, and office management, rather than focusing on strategic growth within a specialised team.

In summary, although small businesses can provide a unique sense of community, the opportunities for advancement and structural support inherent in large companies make them a superior choice for most career seekers.
