Frequently asked questions

Is this IELTS Writing Task 1 course free?+

Yes. Every lesson is free to watch, here or on YouTube, with no sign-up. A free BandLadder account adds timed practice with a band score.

Is the course taught in Hindi?+

Yes. The explanations are in Hindi, and the IELTS language itself, such as model sentences, vocabulary and grammar, is in English, as you will write it in the test.

Is it for IELTS Academic or General Training?+

Academic. Academic Task 1 asks you to report on a graph, chart, table, map or process. General Training Task 1 is a letter instead: see our IELTS letter samples.

How long is IELTS Writing Task 1?+

Spend about 20 minutes and write at least 150 words. Task 2 is worth twice as much as Task 1, so do not let Task 1 run over.

In what order should I watch the lessons?+

In the order listed. The course starts with the format and how Task 1 is marked, then moves to planning, the introduction, the overview and body paragraphs, and ends with vocabulary, grammar and test-day strategy.
