What TOEFL score do you need for Alabama A&M University?

The page says the TOEFL is required if your country does not have English as its official language or your degree is from an institution that did not teach in English. Scores go to AAMU TOEFL code 1003. The page does not list section minimums, a validity period or a MyBest policy.

For comparison, the same page sets IELTS at 6.5, with 7.0 suggested for PhD students.

TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. Where a page above gives only a 0 to 120 figure, that is the figure this guide reports.

The graduate page read for this guide does not describe conditional admission or an English pathway for applicants below the TOEFL minimum.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your AAMU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
