Accepted tests and exemptions
Accepted tests are IELTS (Academic only), PTE, TOEFL iBT and Cambridge English: Advanced. TOEFL iBT tests taken between 26 July 2023 and 4 May 2024 are not accepted. Duolingo is not mentioned. Tests must be completed within two years of the commencement date.
Citizens of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, the UK and the USA are exempt with proof of identity. Others may qualify with at least five years of secondary study or a Certificate IV or higher in a listed country, or one year of full-time study at AQF diploma level or higher taught in English. For initial teacher education master's, IELTS is needed unless your undergraduate degree is from a listed country.

Interviews and how to check
Social science and teaching applicants also complete a pre-admission interview, and the Master of Leadership asks for at least three years of managerial or professional leadership experience.
Requirements vary by course and can change between intakes. The score that binds you is the one on your Alphacrucis course page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test. Your student visa is assessed separately, under the Department of Home Affairs Student visa (subclass 500) rules.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Alphacrucis University College publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
