What IELTS score do you need for British University Vietnam?

BUV says all of its majors require a foundation or pathway programme first, except for some students on international curricula who meet a partner university's exemption scores. Its English requirements FAQ says students without IELTS 6.0 can join through three academic English courses spanning levels 4.5 to 6.0, placed by a test.

The admission policy says all teaching and assessment is in English, applicants whose first language is not English need a recognised qualification such as IELTS, and anyone below the level for their programme must pass a pre-sessional English programme before enrolling.

BUV follows the UK system, so a Vietnamese high school diploma is not mandatory: IB, A Level, AP or a foundation certificate can show Grade 12 completion, and the university sets no minimum high school grade. For the MSc, English tests must be taken within 24 months of the intake date, and international applicants may submit IELTS, TOEFL or BUV's placement test result. Non-Vietnamese students also need documents to stay in Vietnam legally.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your BUV programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
