Reading, Use of English and Writing

Reading and Use of English has about 3,000 words of text. Key word transformations need 3 to 8 words including the key word. The other parts are multiple-choice cloze, open cloze, word formation, multiple choice, gapped text and multiple matching (Cambridge).

Writing Part 1 gives you two texts of about 100 words each; you write a discursive essay of 240 to 280 words that summarises and evaluates their key points and adds your own ideas. Part 2 is one of three tasks, 280 to 320 words (Cambridge).

Listening and Speaking

Listening has four parts, including a 3 to 4 minute monologue where you fill gaps with one to three words, and a 3 to 4 minute conversation with four-option multiple choice (Cambridge).

Speaking has three parts: an interview (2 minutes), a collaborative task (4 minutes), and a long turn and discussion (10 minutes: a 2-minute long turn for each candidate, then about 6 minutes of discussion). It is usually face to face with one or two other candidates and two examiners (Cambridge). Rules and fees change. Check the test owner's own page for your country before you book or pay.
