Test rules at Chiba
The guide does not accept the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, TOEFL ITP, TOEIC IP or IELTS One Skill Retake. Only scores obtained after January 2025 count, and you must submit the official score report; for tests on or after 26 July 2026, digital official score certificates are also accepted. TOEFL ITP taken at Chiba counts only for Chiba graduates.
On the same guide, the school asks IELTS Academic 5.5 or higher, or TOEIC Listening and Reading 785.

If your TOEFL score falls short
MEXT scholarship students who graduated from foreign universities, and JICA trainees, are exempt from the English requirement. The guide does not describe another route for applicants below B2.
