What IELTS score do you need for California State University, Chico (Chico State)?

Undergraduates can also use SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 550, ACT English 22, WAEC SSCE English B3, GCSE, GCE O-level or IGCSE English First Language grade B, or IB English A (Language and Literature HL or Literature HL) grade 5. Three years of full-time secondary or higher study in a listed country, such as Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the US, or at any international school with US regional accreditation, also meets it, as do CSU General Education areas A1 and A2 with a C or better.

Graduate and second bachelor's applicants are exempt with a degree or three years of full-time post-secondary study in a listed country. That list adds Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe and others; India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are not on it. Chico State reserves the right to ask any applicant for proof of English.

If you are short of the score, you can apply to Chico State through Cal State Apply and to a partner language school, then tell International Admissions. Completing the partner level replaces the test score. For undergraduates that includes ELS Level 112, Kaplan high-intermediate and UC San Diego English Language Institute Level 6. For graduates it is UC San Diego ELI Level 7, and only six programmes consider it: Art History, the MBA, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Kinesiology, Political Science and Teaching International Languages. Chico State issues a conditional admission letter and the language school issues the I-20.
