Chung-Ang IELTS by programme
From the March 2027 undergraduate international admission guideline on Chung-Ang's undergraduate guidelines page and the General Graduate School foreign applicant guideline on its graduate guidelines page. Both guidelines are in Korean.
| Programme | IELTS | Other tests |
|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate: Game Convergence (100% English) | 5.5 | TOEFL iBT 60 (3.5 from 21 Jan 2026) |
| Graduate English route: Natural Science, Engineering, Medicine, International Logistics | 5.5 | TOEFL iBT 71 (3.5), TEPS 600, TOEIC 800, CEFR B2 |
| Graduate scholarship (humanities, social sciences, arts, sports) | 6.5 | TOEFL iBT 91, TOEIC 780 or TOPIK 6 |
Exemptions
For Game Convergence, graduates of a regular high school taught entirely in English in a country where English is a native or official language are exempt. For graduate study, a degree earned in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland exempts you. Only scores within their validity period count, and graduate applicants cannot apply with a pending score.

Korean for everyone else
Most undergraduate departments use Korean proficiency standards with a provisional admission scheme, as set out on the undergraduate preparation page. Graduate students on the English route still need TOPIK 4 before submitting a thesis, except in Natural Science, Engineering and Medicine. The 2nd round undergraduate application runs from 16 to 27 November 2026; the graduate round for March 2027 closed on 26 October 2026.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Chung-Ang programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Chung-Ang University publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
