Does the IELTS Test Report Form show your CEFR level?

Yes. IDP says the TRF shows the four skill scores, the overall band and the CEFR level you achieved. ielts.org adds that its IELTS to CEFR mapping refers to the overall band score, not the individual Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking bands, and that it should not be read as an exact equivalence between tests.

What the TRF reports

According to IDP's eTRF guide, the TRF includes your personal details and photograph, the test date, location and module, your score for each of the four skills, the overall band, the CEFR level you achieved and a unique TRF number used for verification.

From 15 July 2026 TRFs also carry the Ofqual logo and qualification title. ielts.org says TRFs issued before and after that date remain valid (ielts.org).

Why the CEFR level follows the overall band

The ielts.org CEFR page says the band scores in its CEFR figure 'are the overall band scores, not the individual band scores' for each skill. It describes the figure as communicating a relationship, not 'strong claims about exact equivalence'.

IELTS spans a broad range of ability on a 9-band scale, so ielts.org says there is no one-to-one match with the six CEFR levels and some bands sit on a boundary.

Using the CEFR line in an application

If an organisation asks for a CEFR level, it may still set its own IELTS band. ielts.org advises that an institution needing high confidence that an applicant is at C1 may ask for 7 rather than 6.5, because many 6.5 test takers are at C1 but some are marginally below (ielts.org).

Visa authorities usually state their requirement in IELTS bands for each skill, so check the band minimums as well as the CEFR level.
