Visa English requirements

Do you need IELTS for the UK Youth Mobility Scheme visa?

No. Gov.uk's Youth Mobility Scheme eligibility page sets age, nationality, children and savings rules, and the documents list asks for a passport and a bank statement, but neither asks for an English test. The same is true of the India Young Professionals Scheme visa, which instead requires a bachelor's-level degree.

Youth Mobility Scheme: what you need instead

The Youth Mobility eligibility page lists the rules below. The full guide asks for a valid passport and a bank statement showing at least £2,530 in savings; English is mentioned only for translating documents not in English or Welsh.

Rules change, sometimes at short notice. Confirm the current requirement on the gov.uk Youth Mobility page before you book a test or apply. This guide restates the official page; it is not legal or immigration advice.
