Waivers and other admission steps

A certificate is not required if you completed an undergraduate degree in English, are a native speaker, or have worked at least two years in an English-speaking country. On the MBA page the work route applies upon proof.

Both programmes also ask for a bachelor's degree in any field with at least 180 ECTS (or an equivalent recognised qualification) and a personal selection interview. The MBA asks for at least two years of postgraduate full-time work experience and a valid GMAT, GRE, Business Admissions Test, EBSgrad Test or Common Admissions Test.

Master in Finance tracks and how to check

The Master in Finance runs as a Semester Abroad Track (4 semesters, 120 ECTS), a Practice Track (4 semesters, 120 ECTS) and an Accelerated Track (2 semesters, 60 ECTS) that needs a bachelor's degree with at least 240 ECTS, or 180 or 210 ECTS plus 12 or 6 months of related work. Its admission test list also includes CFA Level 1, except on the Semester Abroad Track.

The Master in Finance page adds that some partner universities for a semester abroad may require a specific test, so check with them once you are enrolled. The EBS pages in this guide cover the MBA and the Master in Finance only; other EBS programmes publish their own English requirements.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your EBS programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.

Minimum vs competitive score

Where EBS University of Business and Law publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.

Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.

If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
