Embry-Riddle IELTS levels
From the ERLI page, the Apply page and the ERLI Pathway Program page. The Apply page tells Daytona Beach and Prescott applicants whose first language is not English to prove their English, and lists scores in full only for the Asia campus in Singapore.
| Programme | IELTS | Other tests |
|---|---|---|
| Admission (ERLI page list) | 6.0 | TOEFL iBT 79, Duolingo 105, Cambridge 170, EIKEN Pre-1 |
| Asia campus, undergraduate and graduate | 6.0 | TOEFL iBT 79, Duolingo 105 |
| ERLI Pathway Program (Daytona Beach) | 5.5 | TOEFL iBT 55 (3.5 on or after 21 Jan 2026), Duolingo 85, Cambridge 162 |
Other tests and graduate admission
PTE Academic is not listed on any of these pages, so plan on IELTS, TOEFL or Duolingo unless admissions confirm otherwise.
The graduate admissions page says international applicants need English test scores from TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo, but gives no separate minimum there. It points to the international admissions pages for the details.

Conditional acceptance and the Pathway Program
The ERLI page says you may receive conditional acceptance until you complete your English requirements, or until you complete the ERLI programme. ERLI runs at the residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Prescott, Arizona.
The Pathway Program is for students already admitted to a degree programme who have not yet met the English requirement. It lasts two semesters and combines ERLI classes with academic classes that count towards the degree, and is offered only at Daytona Beach.
The US F-1 student visa sets no English test score of its own. What counts is the requirement Embry-Riddle sets for admission, which leads to your Form I-20. For the wider picture, see IELTS for the USA.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admission cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Embry-Riddle programme page and in your admission letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
