What TOEFL score do you need for Emerson College?

Emerson accepts the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition. It does not accept TOEFL ITP Plus for China or the IELTS Indicator. A test is required if English is not the national or primary language of your country, unless you are completing your fourth consecutive year of secondary study at an English-language institution; a qualifying SAT or ACT score satisfies the requirement automatically. Applicants from countries where English is the national or primary language complete an English Proficiency Waiver in the Admission Portal.

For comparison, the same page sets IELTS at 7.0.

The same table accepts other tests: Duolingo English Test 125, Cambridge English (Advanced or Proficiency) 185 and PTE Academic 65. Note that the TOEFL section minimums apply as well as the total, so a strong overall score with one weak section does not qualify.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Emerson programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
