What IELTS score do you need for ESMT Berlin?

ESMT Berlin asks for IELTS 7.0 when it needs an English score. For the Master in Global Management, submitting a test is not mandatory because English is assessed at interview, but if required the minimums are IELTS 7.0, TOEFL 5.0 in each section or TOEIC 850. Waivers

You receive a waiver if English is your native language or you completed a university degree taught entirely in English. For the MBA, 12 months or more working in an English-speaking country or an English-language organisation may also waive the test. Interviews are in English and, for the MGM, aim at CEFR B2 or higher.

Deadlines and other tests

The next Master in Global Management starts on 7 September 2027, with a EUR 3,000 Early Application Award for applications by 31 October 2026. The application fee is EUR 75. GMAT or GRE is not obligatory if you can show quantitative skills another way.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your ESMT programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.

Minimum vs competitive score

Where ESMT Berlin publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.

Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
