What IELTS score do you need for the Hertie School?

Native speakers do not need a test. Non-native speakers can waive it with an undergraduate degree from an institution whose official language of instruction is English, shown by an officially stamped letter saying your whole programme was taught in English. Hertie names no country restriction, so an Indian or Pakistani bachelor's can qualify with that letter.

A master's degree from an English-speaking graduate school does not waive the test on its own, and short-term study abroad, au-pair stays and language-school certificates are not accepted as replacements.

Test results may not be more than two years old. You can apply without a score and send it later at no disadvantage, but any offer stays conditional until you meet the requirement. The MDS admissions page and the blog set 1 June as the deadline for English results; if you miss it, your admission is affected.

Hertie accepts two at-home options, the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition and the Duolingo English Test, though it encourages an in-person test.
