What TOEFL score do you need for Hong Kong Metropolitan University?

Postgraduate pages say TOEFL results are accepted for up to two years from the test date until the application form is submitted, that the TOEFL iBT Home Edition is not accepted, and that scores must come from the same attempt.

The undergraduate and research pages give only 0 to 120 figures. TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale.

On the same pages, HKMU asks IELTS Academic 6.0 overall for bachelor's and taught master's entry, and 6.5 with at least 6.0 in Writing for research degrees.

For taught master's, HKMU says equivalent qualifications may be considered case by case, with an interview if needed. Research applicants whose earlier bachelor's or higher study was taught in English can have the requirement waived.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your HKMU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
