MBA waivers and score codes
For the MBA, there is no test requirement if English is your first language, you completed your university degree in English or you lived at least two consecutive years in an English-speaking country. IESE's codes are 7237 for TOEFL and CL035 for IELTS. It still assesses TOEFL iBT results from the new January 2026 test on the 0–120 scale until further notice. Duolingo is not listed.

Other requirements
The MBA also needs a GMAT or GRE, which cannot be waived; IESE gives a GMAT Focus acceptance range of 545–715. The MiM accepts the GMAT, GRE or IESE's own test, and its interview, held online or in Madrid, is in English.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your IESE programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where IESE Business School publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
