Which IELTS to take
ITB's page names the IELTS General Test at 5.5. If you are also applying elsewhere, the Academic test is the safer choice, since most universities accept only Academic. Check with ITB if you plan to take Academic. PTE and Duolingo are not listed.

Tests, fees and eligibility
The registration fee is Rp1,500,000, and the ELQ test and the Academic Qualification (AQ) test cost Rp1,250,000 each. Admission for 2026 was open to high school graduates of 2024, 2025 and 2026. The Industrial Engineering page says all its IUP students must spend at least one semester on outbound exchange at their own expense.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your ITB programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
