KU Leuven TOEFL iBT minimums
The university-wide floor is on KU Leuven's English proficiency tests page, which warns that your programme may require a higher score or specific subscores. The programme rows come from the admission requirements pages in the 2026 to 2027 programme guide.

Test rules at KU Leuven
KU Leuven only accepts the TOEFL iBT, including the Home Edition and the Paper Edition, and does not accept MyBest scores. Your result must be available for online verification. Applicants who earned an earlier diploma in an English-taught programme in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States are exempt.
TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. The page above gives only 0 to 120 figures, so that is what this guide reports.
On the same page, the university minimum for IELTS Academic is 6.5. The BBA page asks IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in each part, the LL.M. page IELTS 7.0, and the Advanced Studies in Economics page IELTS 7 with 6.5 in each part.

If your TOEFL score falls short
The general page lists no conditional offer or pre-sessional route. KU Leuven also accepts Cambridge C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency, and the ITACE C1 or C2 certificate, which can only be taken in Belgium. It does not accept Duolingo.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your KU Leuven programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
