How Marist handles TOEFL scores

The undergraduate page says scores must come directly from the testing service, gives the Marist report code as 2400, and requires scores to be less than two years old on the first day of class. The graduate page applies the same two-year rule and lets you receive a decision on scanned scores, but an official report is needed before an I-20 can be issued.

For comparison, both pages set IELTS at 6.5 (test-centre only at graduate level).

TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. Where a page above gives only a 0 to 120 figure, that is the figure this guide reports.

If your TOEFL score is below Marist's level

Neither page describes conditional admission. Undergraduates can be waived with an IB Diploma, at least 500 on the SAT Critical Reading or Writing section, four years at an English-medium school without ESL courses, or a year at a US college. Graduate applicants can be waived after four years at a US high school or one academic year at a US college.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Marist programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
