Exemptions are by country, not by degree language
Economics exempts applicants who completed all previous education in English in Australia, Canada, an EU country, Iceland, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, the UK or the USA. Informatics exempts education completed in Canada (except Quebec), the USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia. Social Studies exempts citizens of Australia, Canada, Ireland, Malta, New Zealand, the UK and the USA.
An English-medium degree from India, Pakistan or Nigeria does not appear on these lists, and the Social Studies master's page says proof that previous studies were in English is not acceptable. For the Informatics autumn 2026 intake, Duolingo counted only with confirmation that the bachelor's was taught in English; the spring 2027 list accepts Duolingo 115 on its own.

Test age and other faculties
Informatics and Social Studies accept certificates no older than two years. Other faculties, such as Arts and Education, ask for proof of English without a stated level, so check the faculty page for your programme.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Masaryk University programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Masaryk University publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
