How old the test can be
TOEFL and IELTS must be no older than two years at application. PTE and Cambridge can be up to five years old for MESPOM, and Duolingo up to one year. For Manchester, the test must be no older than two years at the start of your study there, and it must reach Manchester by 31 July before your UK period.

Exemptions and the UK catch
If English is your first language, or your bachelor's or master's was taught only in English, you can ask in writing for an exemption; the admissions committee decides. MESPOM warns that Manchester may not accept CEU's exemptions, and that UK immigration accepts IELTS Academic, PTE Academic, Cambridge C1/C2 and TOEFL iBT, so you may need a new test before year 2.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where MESPOM publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
