What TOEFL score do you need for Murray State University?

The pages give TOEFL as an overall score without naming a test format beyond TOEFL, and list programme-level additions on the graduate page. Several graduate programmes list the Murray State University ESL Program alongside IELTS and TOEFL.

For comparison, the same pages set IELTS at 6.0, with 5.5 for full admission with condition.

TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. Where a page above gives only a 0 to 120 figure, that is the figure this guide reports.

A score of 61 qualifies for full admission with condition, and the graduate page says conditional admission is possible for TOEFL 61 to 70. For the English Pedagogy doctorate, conditional admission with lower scores may be considered case by case.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Murray State programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
