What TOEFL score do you need for PennWest?

Undergraduates submit official English proficiency exam scores as step two of the application. PennWest accepts TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, GTEC CBT, Pearson Test of English and STEP-EIKEN for undergraduates. The pages give no institution code, section minimums or validity period.

For comparison, the same pages set IELTS at 5.5 for undergraduates and 6 for graduates.

TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. Where a page above gives only a 0 to 120 figure, that is the figure this guide reports.

Graduate applicants are exempt if their degree was taught in English and the university is in a country where English is official or is accredited by a US regional accrediting agency, or if they are citizens of a listed country. Neither page describes a conditional admission route.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your PennWest programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
