What IELTS score do you need for the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), University of London?

The RVC's English language requirements page lists the alternatives it accepts where IELTS 7.0 with 6.5 in each component is required: PTE Academic 69 overall with no section below 62, TOEFL iBT (the only TOEFL version accepted) 101 with no section below 23, Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency 185 with 176 in each section, and school English grades such as IGCSE English as a first language at 6/B with 6/B in each component. Duolingo is not on the list.

The RVC accepts IELTS One Skill Retake if the combined scores meet its requirement. Students who have recently completed a qualification equivalent to a UK bachelor's or postgraduate degree in a country the UKVI lists as exempt need not take a test, and an ENIC English Language Proficiency Statement confirming a UK-equivalent degree taught entirely in English is also accepted.

Courses that lead to registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, such as the clinical training programmes, also require the RCVS English standard. The RVC says its standard and the RCVS standard are the same, so plan for 7.0 with 6.5 in each skill if you intend to practise.

The Integrated Foundation Year is for international students whose school system did not let them take both Biology and Chemistry to A Level standard. It includes teaching in English for science and academic purposes. Indian applicants need the ISC or SSC with at least 70% overall, 70% in Mathematics and 75% in Biology or Chemistry.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your RVC course page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
