Other ways to be exempt
Two years at any US high school within the last five years with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 exempts you. If you have a GPA of 2.0 or higher in English 1A or an equivalent at a college or university, send your transcript for review.
If Saddleback does not have your official score or other proof at admission, you get an I-20 for ESL. After completing ESL or proving your English, you move to the academic programme on an associate-level I-20.

Costs
The page estimates international tuition at $512 a unit, or $12,288 for two semesters, plus $2,580 for required health insurance, for 2026-2027. International students must complete at least 12 units each autumn and spring semester. Saddleback is part of the South Orange County Community College District with Irvine Valley College.

Minimum vs competitive score
Where Saddleback College publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
