What Duolingo score do you need for UC Berkeley?

Undergraduate applicants can submit updated exam scores through ApplyUC, and the scores must be valid for two years from your enrolment date to count. The page gives no Duolingo subscore minimums.

The Graduate Division lists the tests it rejects: Duolingo, TOEFL ITP, TOEFL My Best Scores, IELTS Indicator and IELTS One Test Retake. Whether you need a test at all depends on the country where your bachelor's degree was awarded.

For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS at 6.5 and TOEFL at 90 or 4.5, the same page as the Duolingo 115.

Berkeley lists other ways to prove English for undergraduates: AP English Language and Composition or English Literature and Composition at 3 or above, IB English A at 6 or 7 (Standard Level) or 5 to 7 (Higher Level), ACT English Language Arts 24 or higher, SAT Writing and Language 31 or higher, or three or more years of instruction in English. The page lists no conditional admission.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UC Berkeley programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
