UI English requirements
From UI's international undergraduate page, the Faculty of Engineering international programme page and the FEB international programme page:

Who does not need a test
If your high school certificate comes from an institution where English is the main language of instruction, UI accepts a letter from the school instead of a test certificate. Applicants from English-speaking countries who studied in English-medium schools complete a statement letter at enrolment. For the 2026/2027 Global Talent international class, Cambridge and IB school students can upload a school letter confirming English instruction.

Global Talent international class 2026/2027
The Global Talent S1 KKI requirements say foreign nationals apply through UI's admission site, must have finished high school within the last three years, may apply to one study programme, and must rank in the top 40% of their class. Shortlisted applicants have a compulsory faculty interview. The Faculty of Engineering page lists international tuition of IDR 30,000,000 per semester plus a one-off IDR 60,000,000 admission fee, excluding study abroad costs.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UI programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Universitas Indonesia (UI) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.

IELTS 5.5 for most international undergraduate programmes, and 6.0 for the Faculty of Engineering's joint and double degrees.
Does UI accept TOEFL ITP?+
Yes. UI accepts TOEFL ITP 500 as well as TOEFL iBT 61.
How old can my IELTS be for UI?+
UI accepts only TOEFL, IELTS, FCE or CAE certificates obtained from March 2024 onward.
Can I apply to UI without IELTS?+
Yes, if your high school taught mainly in English and you provide a school letter confirming it.
