How Buckingham handles TOEFL scores

Buckingham asks you to use code 8775 when naming the university as a score recipient, so it receives results directly. TOEFL results are valid for two years. The pages do not mention the Home Edition or MyBest scores.

This page gives TOEFL minimums on the 0 to 120 scale only. TOEFL iBT reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score; see how the new TOEFL score scale works, and ask admissions how they read a 1 to 6 report.

For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS at an average of 6.5 with 6.0 or above in each component, and MB ChB applicants need IELTS 7.0 with 6.5 in each.

If your TOEFL score is below Buckingham's level

Buckingham offers English foundation courses and a Pre-Sessional English Programme; completing them can lead to progression onto its degrees if you meet the academic requirements. The pages do not give TOEFL entry levels for these courses.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Buckingham programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
