What IELTS score do you need for UNSW College?

For UNSW degrees whose direct entry is IELTS 7.0 with no band below 6.0, the entry points move up: UEEC 10 needs 6.5 (writing 6.0, no band below 5.5), UEEC 15 and UEEC 20 need 6.0, and Essential Academic English needs 5.5. Degrees needing 7.0 with 7.0 in writing, or 7.0 with 7.5 in speaking and listening, have only UEEC 10 and UEEC 15 entry points, at 6.5 overall with higher band minimums.

The page also lists IELTS UKVI and LanguageCert. For UEEC 20 and Essential Academic English, the Duolingo cells repeat the LanguageCert ranges, which do not fit the Duolingo scale, so ask Admissions for the Duolingo score before relying on it. Cambridge English is not listed.

All English tests must be no more than two years old at the program commencement date. The page lists countries it treats as English-speaking, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK and the USA, and says a test is still required if your qualification was studied outside the country of the issuing institution. It notes that some exceptions apply to specific UNSW degrees and that the figures are a guide only.

Requirements vary by course and can change between intakes. The score that binds you is the one on your UNSW College course page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test. Your student visa is assessed separately, under the Department of Home Affairs Student visa (subclass 500) rules.
