UTS TOEFL iBT minimums by course

UTS TOEFL rules: Home Edition, two sittings and validity
UTS accepts the TOEFL iBT and TOEFL iBT Home Edition, taken within two years before you apply. The Home Edition is excluded for several health courses, as the table notes. UTS says the TOEFL Paper-Based Test is being phased out.
For nursing and the listed health courses, section minimums can be met across two sittings: 94 in each sitting (or 91 for TOEFL Australia from 23 April 2026), with set floors for each section across both.
For comparison, the same page sets most courses at IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing, and accepts IELTS Online and the One Skill Retake for them.

If your TOEFL score falls short
UTS also accepts a pass in UTS College Academic English Level 5 (AE5) as meeting its minimum English requirement, along with a Certificate IV in English for Academic Purposes from TAFE NSW.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UTS programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.

TOEFL iBT 79 with 21 in writing for most courses, or 4 overall with 4.5 in writing on the 1 to 6 scale.
Does UTS accept the TOEFL Home Edition?+
Yes for most courses, including teaching. Several health courses, such as Speech Pathology, exclude it.
