Tidewater Swimming Complex: Visitor Information
Skip to the questions ↓Welcome
Tidewater Swimming Complex has three pools, a sauna and a spectator area, all on the ground floor. Whether you are training for a race, learning to swim or simply relaxing, this guide explains where to find everything.
Arriving
The entrance is in the middle of the south side of the building and leads straight into Reception, where you can buy a swim ticket or show your membership card. To the west of Reception is the buggy park, where pushchairs can be left safely while families swim. To the east of Reception is the swim shop, which sells goggles, swimming costumes and armbands.
Getting changed
Behind Reception is Family Changing, a large space with private cubicles where parents can change with their children. Male Changing is to the west of it and Female Changing to the east. All three changing areas have lockers that take a £1 coin and showers that must be used before entering the pools.
The pools
The Main Pool fills most of the northern half of the building. It is 25 metres long, with eight lanes, and lane swimming takes place every morning before 9 am. In the north-east corner, beside the Main Pool, is the diving pool, which is five metres deep and is used by the diving club on weekday evenings. South of the Main Pool, in the western part of the building, is the learner pool, which is only 90 centimetres deep and is kept warmer than the others for young children and beginners.
Watching and relaxing
Spectator Seating for 200 people is in the middle of the building, between the learner pool and the sauna, and gives a good view of the Main Pool. The sauna, in the eastern part of the building directly south of the diving pool, is for adults only and is open until 9 pm.
Pool rules
Children under eight must be accompanied in the water by an adult. Running, pushing and diving are not allowed except in the diving pool, and food may not be taken onto the poolside. Please follow the instructions of the lifeguards at all times.
