Site Rules and Map for Contractors: Elmsfield Business Park

Who this applies to

These rules apply to all contractors carrying out building, maintenance, cleaning or delivery work at Elmsfield Business Park. Each contractor must read this document and sign the declaration at the end before work begins. Failure to follow the rules may result in you being asked to leave the site, and repeated failures will be reported to your employer. Contractors who visit the park regularly must still read the latest version, as the rules are reviewed every six months.

Arriving on site

The only vehicle entrance is the main gate in the south-east corner of the park, off Hatchmere Lane. Immediately inside the gate is the gatehouse, where every contractor must sign in, show photo identification and receive a pass. You will also be told which units you may work in. From the gatehouse, the central road runs north and then west through the middle of the park. The speed limit on the central road is ten miles per hour.

Parking and storage

Contractors' vans may not be parked outside the units. Instead, use the storage compound, which is directly west of the gatehouse along the southern edge of the site. Materials and tools can be left there overnight in the lockable cages provided. Further west, in the south-west corner, is the visitor car park, which is for the cars of office staff and their guests only. Contractors who park there will be asked to move.

Facilities for contractors

There is a smoking shelter at the western end of the central road, against the boundary fence. Smoking is not allowed anywhere else on site. At the eastern end of the central road, on the east side of the park, is the wheel wash, which all lorries leaving muddy work areas must drive through before going back on the public road. Toilets for contractors are inside the gatehouse.

The units

The three office units stand along the northern edge of the park. Unit 1 is in the north-west corner and Unit 2 is next to it. Unit 3 is in the north-east corner. Between Unit 2 and Unit 3 is the skip area, where all building waste must be placed in the correct container: wood, metal, plasterboard or general waste. Hazardous waste such as paint must be taken away by the contractor and never put in the skips.

Safety on site

Hard hats and high-visibility clothing must be worn outside the units at all times. Any accident, however small, must be reported at the gatehouse before you leave. In an emergency, the assembly point is the visitor car park. Work is permitted from 7.30 am to 6 pm on weekdays and from 8 am to 1 pm on Saturdays.
