Declining Social Committee Role

Your friend wants you to help organise the orientation week evening social events. However, you are already mentoring four first-year students and need to focus on your laboratory prep work this term. You want to decline politely and suggest another capable classmate. What do you say to your friend?

3

Orientation Pack Shortage Complaint

You are assisting new students at the welcome desk. You notice that the faculty orientation booklets ran out an hour ago, leaving twenty new arrivals without maps or timetable guides. You call the campus print shop manager to request an urgent reprint. What do you say to the print manager?

4

Advising an Overwhelmed Mentee

Your first-year mentee feels overwhelmed by the large number of introductory lectures and club fairs happening during their first three days. They are worried about falling behind before classes even start. You meet them for coffee to offer reassurance and practical advice. What do you say to your mentee?

5

Requesting Society Stall Space

You are running the peer mentoring information stall at the orientation fair. Your assigned table is hidden behind a large display board near the emergency exit, so new students are not seeing it. You speak to the student union event organiser to request a better spot. What do you say to the organiser?
