What TOEFL score do you need for Adelphi University?

Scores are valid for two years from the exam date, and all results must come officially from the testing institution. Adelphi notes that the TOEFL can be taken online, which gives more flexibility on timing.

TOEFL iBT score reports from January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score; our guide to the new TOEFL score scale explains how the two scales appear on a report.

For comparison, the same page asks for IELTS 6.5 and accepts the IELTS One Skill Retake.

Adelphi says that if your score falls below its minimum, it can direct you to its Adelphi International partners, which run Accelerator programmes with language support for incoming international students. Applicants from listed countries may have the English test waived.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Adelphi programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
