What IELTS score do you need for Anglia Ruskin University?

ARU prefers IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT and PTE Academic taken at a test centre. When in-person testing is difficult, it considers TOEFL iBT Home Edition, IELTS Online and Oxford ELLT Digital at the same scores, as well as Duolingo. It reserves the right to carry out extra English checks at the CAS stage for Student visa applicants.

ARU accepts IELTS One Skill Retake and assesses TOEFL MyBest scores individually. Most English tests are valid for two years, and for a Student visa the test must still be valid on the date you submit your visa application. PTE Academic Online is not stated by ARU.

ARU's South Asia page gives the same standard for Indian and Pakistani applicants: IELTS 6.0 with nothing below 5.5 for undergraduates and 6.5 with nothing below 5.5 for taught and research postgraduates. A Standard XII English or English-medium waiver is not stated by ARU. The same standard appears on its Nigeria entry.

ARU's own English Language Proficiency Test results can be used for undergraduate and postgraduate applications and, ARU says, meet UKVI requirements for the Student visa. The entry requirements page describes the ELPT for applicants in the UK, while the region pages say it is offered in the UK and overseas.

For a pre-sessional English course or a course below degree level with a Student visa, you need a SELT with at least CEFR B1 in each skill. ARU says Student visa applicants must reach CEFR B2 in each of the four skills for degree entry.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your ARU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
