What IELTS score do you need for Bournemouth University?

These course pages were read on 8 October 2026; none states a PTE score. The adult nursing page, for September 2027 entry, also accepts the OET and includes an online interview.

BU's alternative qualifications page lists the school results below; CBSE must be Core Module 301, and Indian state boards are not stated. BU's main English page says it does not normally accept English-taught degrees from outside majority English-speaking countries, yet its Nigeria page accepts a letter from your university confirming English teaching if you graduated within two years. School English for Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh is not stated by BU.

BU's India page asks a £8,000 deposit from the Haryana and Punjab regions and £5,000 elsewhere, and its Pakistan page £8,000 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The undergraduate offer page says £5,000 for all, with deposits typically due by 1 November for January starts. BU's CAS Shield guide says you may need a recorded pre-CAS interview.

BU's international page suspends recruitment from Afghanistan and Iran, and its research degrees page also pauses visa-sponsored applicants from Cameroon, Myanmar and Sudan. Its pre-sessional English, two to 39 weeks, is run by Bournemouth University International College; prices and entry scores are not on BU's own pages.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Bournemouth programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
