What TOEFL score do you need for Butler University?

Butler's TOEFL school code is 1073. The page says TOEFL scores may not be required of applicants from a list of countries that includes Australia, and it accepts other evidence, such as 500 on SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing or 19 on ACT English.

TOEFL iBT score reports from January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score; our guide to the new TOEFL score scale explains how the two scales appear on a report.

For comparison, the same page says IELTS 6.0 meets Butler's requirement.

The page lists no conditional admission or English pathway. Other routes on the page include PTE Academic 53, Duolingo 100, MET 55, and a grade A or B in GCSE or GCE English.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Butler programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
