Can you take Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency at home?

No. Cambridge says both its digital and paper-based exams are taken at an authorised exam centre, your school or an external venue, under exam conditions. The digital version is on a computer at that venue, not at home, and the Speaking test is face to face in both. Linguaskill, a separate Cambridge test, does offer online invigilation.

Which one to choose

The qualification and task types are identical, and Cambridge says neither format is easier. The digital exam adds an on-screen timer, headphones with volume control for Listening, a word counter and note and highlight tools (Cambridge). Which formats you can book depends on the centre.

If you need an online test

Cambridge's Linguaskill is an online, modular test that can be taken in a centre or with online invigilation; see Can you take Linguaskill at home?. It is a different test from B2 First or C1 Advanced, so check that your university or employer accepts it before you book. Rules and fees change. Check the test owner's own page for your country before you book or pay. This guide is general information, not official advice from the test owner.
