What TOEFL score do you need for Central Michigan University?

CMU says test scores are valid for two years from the test date. When a test reports best scores by section, such as TOEFL MyBest, CMU builds a composite from the highest score in each section. Use school code 1106.

TOEFL iBT score reports from January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score; our guide to the new TOEFL score scale explains how the two scales appear on a report.

For comparison, the English proficiency page asks for IELTS 6.5 for regular admission, and the MSA page accepts IELTS 5.5 with stipulations.

The Master of Science in Administration offers admission with stipulations from TOEFL 61. Other routes to show English include completing ELS Level 112, CMU's oral English and writing competency courses, or 24 graded credits with a 2.50 GPA at an English-medium institution.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Central Michigan programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
